Feature Today from Reverie Gallery! http://reveriegallery.com/boho-glam-wedding-inspiration/
You’re not going to be able to pull your eyes away from today’s boho glam wedding inspiration. Perfectly captured by Ashley O’Dell Photographythis styled editorial shoot exudes amazing talent and copious amounts of eye candy. Our very own Reverie Gallery creator, Erica Powell along with her sister-in-law Caitlin Diggs designed this jeweled toned affair that proves bohemian sensibilities can be unimaginetvly elegant.
This styled shoot was also specially designed for Northeastern bridal magazine, Bliss Celebrations. The owner of Bliss Celebrations is close friends with Erica Powell, so working together, for them, is a dream come true! With this article we are also thrilled to announce the new exciting relationship between Bliss Celebrations Guide and Reverie Gallery. Bliss Celebrations Guide has become the first Reverie Gallery Collaborator, allowing their amazing regional content to be published again on our national website.
From Erica Powell, My sister-in-law, designer Caitlin Diggles, and I worked very closely with Amy and Sarah of Bliss Celebrations to come up with the concept of this shoot. We wanted to have a distinct bohemian style, but adding an element of luxury that makes the shoot boho and formal at the same time. We are loving the trend now of boho glam, it is an incredible new style that takes glam elements into the outdoors, allowing brides and grooms who love to be close to nature to and still keep their wedding formal and glamorous.
From Designer, Caitlin Diggles, I can’t tell you how much fun I had on this shoot! From the deep jewel-toned colors and rich textures, to the juxtaposition between ultra-glamorous and bohemian styles, and with nature as our backdrop – I was like a kid in a candy store. I have always had a love for the Anthropologie aesthetic –which we drew some of our inspiration from. We were so lucky to work with some of the most professional and creative vendors in New England, whom I have the utmost respect for and had an absolute blast planning and designing alongside. They helped us to put together our dream-like vision of a Bohemian Glam Wedding.
From Photographer Ashley O’Dell, Whimsical Boho weddings, and their color palettes, are right up my photographic alley. At a time when color trends have been soft, vintage tones, I’ve continually sought out styling with an enthusiasm for color, and multi-layered design elements. With that being said, Boho can come off more shabby than chic, if ones attention to detail is lacking, so I couldn’t have been more excited to see Erica’s styling efforts come to life within the textures, patterns, and colors she chose. Every single element was interesting in it’s own right, and added richness to the space, but didn’t take away from the whole.
Reverie Gallery's Erica Powell shares, where the inspiration began, We started with the color palette, and decided instantly that boho weddings are most unique because of their many vibrant colors. I love to build complex color palettes so Caitlin and I were thrilled to incorporate as many colors as possible while still keeping the design grounded and coordinated. We wanted to have a warm and rich palette with colors that suited autumn. If this shoot were a real wedding, it could be one of the most stunning weddings!
Sayles Livingston of Sayles Livingston Flowers describes the inspiration behind the amazing floral design , I love jewel tones -- ruby, sapphires, emeralds, amethyst. We used all my favorite flowers: peonies, orchids, hydrangeas, dahlias, ranunculus, garden roses as well as various unique pods, berries, and greenery to make the entire environment feel extravagant.
Erica Powell describes all her favorite details used to create her vision, We are totally in love with the look of the french crystal chandeliers in the trees, the original oil painting over the mantle painted by Valerie Vermeulen, the unique rental furniture from New England Country Rentals, the gorgeous stationery by Ceci New York, and many other elements of this shoot.
Reverie Gallery's Erica Powell describes more about the design, We love the soft candle-glow in the tent, and all of the layers of luxurious fabric draped in the tent by Ryan Designs. We haven’t seen many weddings with this level of complexity and this many different layered designed elements. We look forward to seeing some of the boho glam weddings that are sure to emerge in the next few seasons. This shoot was truly a labor of love.
Erica continues, As a designer, when you layer this number of complex design elements from the gown, to the florals, and fabrics, with this many colors, it’s an incredibly fine balancing act. It’s important not to let any one color truly outshine another and let them balance in harmony. Caitlin and I spent a lot of hours just looking at design inspiration, putting photos next to each other, considering layers of fabrics and how they would look together, and choosing the exact furniture that would look luxurious while still comfortable and inviting.
From Erica Powell, We loved working with Ceci New York for the gorgeous printed paper pieces, Naomi Studio & Salon for these incredible makeup and hair looks, Ryan Designs for draping and chandeliers, and New England Country Rentals for the perfect tables, chairs, benches and other furniture pieces. Our tablescape was complex, layering fabrics, mis-matched (but with a modern edge) china and copper chargers from New England Country Rentals. It was a blast and a challenge to make sure everything was put together with just the perfect balance. On the day of the shoot, Caitlin made sure to continue the balancing act and getting every detail just perfectly boho and glam all at the same time.
